What the hell is a Cakeboy?
A "cake boy," per Amy Heckerling's seminal teen masterpiece Clueless, is a "disco-dancing, Oscar Wilde-reading, Streisand ticket-holding friend of Dorothy."
Oh, chill. So why is that the name of the magazine?
Because Cakeboy is all about redefining and reclaiming your queer self on your own terms, away from the prying, prescriptive gaze of the salmon-chino-clad heterosexual.
What kind of things do you cover?
We are an ecstatic faggot fanzine, dedicated to the best in queer art, fashion + culture. We've been heavily interview-based since launching in 2015, but also cover poetry, fiction, photography, and fine art.
Do you accept submissions?
We do not accept submissions.
How can I get coverage of my product, service or project in the magazine?
As we only publish twice a year our editorial calendar is set a few months in advance, so it's best to put upcoming projects and series on our radar as soon as possible. We like to find the best, most unique angle for in-book editorial coverage. Timely/promotional content lives on our newsletter and social media channels, while our site is dedicated to multimedia features that we develop with as much integrity as in-book content. Shoot us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I'm an advertiser, and I love this. How can I help?
Amazing! We are happy to discuss the myriad ways we can partner with your brand or organization. Our print issues come out twice yearly, in fall and spring, but can be tied to specific product launches or release dates within those timeframes. We also offer our social and digital channels as well as event/activation production and promotion. Reach us at the email address below.
